How to Protect Your Property and Your Family

Category : Uncategorized

This article is going to be looking at Alarm systems. Alarm system means any mechanism, equipment or device which is designated to detect an unauthorized entry into any building or onto any property, or to direct attention to a robbery, burglary or other emergency in progress, and to signal the above occurrences either by a local or audible alarm or by a silent or remote alarm or that is designated to detect smoke or fire hazards.

A burglary takes place every 12 seconds and produces an average loss of $1,675 per event. Most homeowners only think about installing a home security system after they themselves or a neighbor has been a victim of a burglary.

Statistics show that homes without burglar alarm systems are four times more likely to be targeted. Therefore Alarm systems are seen to be a visual deterrent to burglary and a worthwhile investment in the protection of your home. Losses due to burglary average $400 less in residences with security systems than for a residence without security systems and 90 percent of police believe alarms deter burglary attempts.

All alarm systems generally have the same three components; the actual alarm, the sensor (which senses intrusion) and the control that causes the alarm to go off once the intrusion has occurred.

There are remote alarms which automatically call the local police department. On the other hand, there are also alarms that simply let out a siren noise. There are alarms that activate due to sensing motion, alarm systems that require an access code, wireless so that you can move them, alarm systems that will dial a neighbor instead of the police if preferred, and many more.

Burglary alarm systems can be divided into two broad categories: active and passive.
Burglary, robbery or other emergency alarm systems which use a local audible or visual alarm device to attract the attention of the public will be equipped with an automatic cutoff device which will terminate the audible or visual alarm within thirty minutes.
Whether you buy from a national alarm monitoring company, or choose to install your own alarm system, make sure you understand why you need an alarm

Just like your home, businesses without alarm systems are more likely to be burglarized than those that have an alarm system.
Alarm systems are also great for fires and other emergencies. Alarms systems for homes or small to even medium sized businesses can take up to eight hours to install.

Monitored alarm systems are a key component to deter crime, and protect your loved ones. The best alarm systems are those which combine perimeter and interior detection devices. Some alarm systems are tied to video surveillance systems so that current video of the intrusion area can be instantly displayed on a remote monitor, not to mention recorded. Most burglar alarm systems are equipped with sophisticated battery and/or cellular backup systems that kick in right away should your power or phone connection fail.

It is crucial to assess your home security needs before you begin consulting with a home security advisor or alarm company. With the variety of alarm systems out there, it is important to understand what you need before you begin shopping.

Romance Your Home with Feng Shui

Category : Uncategorized

Has your home lost that loving feeling? Do feel nurtured when you are at home? Is it lacking vital energy that makes you feel alive and nurtured? Maybe it’s time to add some romance to your home. Using Feng Shui principles can be a simple way to make your home loving and inviting. Your home is a place where you can create a tranquil haven from the hectic outside world. Adding some romance to your home does not mean that you have to decorate it in a particular way, such as a Victorian-styled home with lots of lace and floral patterns. Romancing your home is rather a way to create a beautiful, inviting and harmonious living environment, which you can express through your own personal decorating style.

Feng Shui is widely used to create harmony and happiness in all types of relationships: romantic, family, friends, and work associates. One of the most important objectives in Feng Shui is that of family happiness. One simple way to support harmonious family relationships is to have a dining table that is round or oval in shape to encourage a smooth flow of conversation and energy. Feng Shui also puts importance on diffusing obstacles that can create negative energy, such as overhead beams, a protruding display or bookcase, or knives exposed in the kitchen. Overhead beams can represent heavy energy bearing down on you, especially if the beams are over your bed. Look around your home to see if any of these obstacles could be creating an uninviting home for you. It is also a challenge to be romantic in the bedroom if your computer and television are there vying for your attention. It is best to locate these items in another part of the house. If you must have a television in the bedroom, place it in an armoire so that it can be hidden away when not in use.

Once the obstacles of negativity are diffused, you can bring in positive, enriching energy by displaying symbols of love and romance. Try keeping things in pairs, such as a pair of candles or have a pair of rose quartz hearts on your bed side table. Images of love birds or mandarin ducks are often used to visually represent being in a loving relationship. You can also strengthen relationship energy in other rooms of your home with the pairing of Yin and Yang opposites, such as artwork depicting water and mountains or statuary of a man and woman.

Color is very much a part of creating romance in your home and will affect the overall feeling you have in a room. Are your color choices encouraging a loving and harmonious living environment? The bedroom is often considered to be the most romantic room in your home. What are the dominant colors in your bedroom? The following color guide may help you in choosing the romantic atmosphere you are looking to create.

Pink is known as the color of love and will give your room a soft approachable feel.
Red is a strong passionate color that can create feelings of power and excitement. In your bedroom, it is best to use this sparingly as an accent instead of painting all walls in the color red.
Green is a calming color and gives a sense of safety and stability to many people.
White is the most common color that people use on the walls is their bedroom. Although it creates a fresh and relaxed feeling, it has a tendency to be a little on the cool side. Consider warming things up a bit with flesh-toned sheets or a painted accent wall behind the head of the bed.
Blue is another calming color, and like white has a tendency to be a little on the cool side. Again warm things up through your accent colors and accessories.

Creating your own romantic home might take some effort. However, once you have applied the principles of Feng Shui and inviting colors to your environment, you will be able to enjoy the results each time you come home at the end of the day.

Seasonal Decorating

Category : Uncategorized

Summer suggests light and airy interiors, fresh colors and lots of flowers. In the winter, most prefer a cozy and warm look. When the cold weather arrives, have a collection of cozy, fluffy throws to place on your furniture for snuggling. Remove them or replace with soft cotton or silk throws for warmer months. Remove the toasty down-filled duvet from your bed in the spring, and substitute a light cotton matalasse bed cover or a simple cotton blanket. Floral arrangements of pine and holiday colors can be changed for light, colorful ones for the spring and summer.

Put away dark brass or pottery containers and bring out clear glass or crystal vases for summertime decorations. Change dark-patterned decorative pillows by covering them with fresh, floral prints or plaids for warmer weather. Either change pillows with a second set or alternate the decorative covers. If you have a collection of plates on display, put classic holiday designs away for the winter and replace with them with pretty floral designs. Keep spring and summer colors and accessories light, both in feel and color. Changing with the seasons gives you an opportunity to get out some long-lost pieces, and make them the center of attention for a while. If winter seems especially long, forget the calendar, and get your spring things out even if there’s snow on the ground. You may still need the warm blankets, but the look can be light and uplifting. Have your draperies made so they are reversible, allowing you to easily turn them from lively to neutral with the seasonal changes. Be sure to put garden magazines and flower books out on the coffee table in the spring and summer. That will help bring the outside in and add color to your interior.
