Many people choose bamboo for their floors because they like the light blonde coloring. Natural bamboo gives a room a very bright and cheerful glow. But, bamboo is also available in stained colors as well. So, if you like the unique grain patterns of the bamboo floors, but want something darker … not to worry. Bamboo ready takes stains just like hard woods do. And just like hardwoods, bamboo will accept the stain colors differently depending on the bamboo it’s self. So, you will get some variation in plank colors, but probably not quite as much as you get with woods.
Bamboo also offers the same levels of durability as hardwoods do. It’s not harder than hardwoods, but instead it’s very similar in strength. Like hardwoods, you can scratch a bamboo floor if you hit it too hard or drag something too heavy across it. So, you would treat bamboo with the same respect and care as you would a hardwood floor.
Another great reason to go with bamboo as your flooring choice is the lower price point. You can get the same hardwood look in your flooring for a better price … the same hardwood feel, for a better price. For many people, a lower price point is critical to being able to afford a good looking flooring like bamboo. With all the same benefits as hardwood flooring, bamboo has really taken a stronghold in the flooring market.

The tankless water heater is one of the more intriguing home improvement options, and for many people it can provide real cost savings, faster and more reliable hot water, and even lower water bills. It is important for all homeowners to explore what tankless water heaters have to offer.
With a gas powered tankless water heater, the gas passes through many finely calibrated holes, then passes through a stainless steel burner which mixes the gas with air to distribute the flame over the entire heat exchanger. This allows the tankless water heater to provide maximum heating efficiency at minimum cost.
The most important difference between a traditional tank based water heater and a tankless water heater is that the tankless approach provides on demand head, and greater efficiency. In addition, a tankless water heater can produce enough heat for several showers at once, an important consideration for homes with multiple bathrooms. Depending on the temperature of the water coming into the system, the typical tankless system can easily heat water for 2 or 3 showers at one time.
Tankless water heaters are also known as on demand systems, since the idea is that they heat water immediately, as soon as it is needed. Therefore, this type of system does not require a storage tank. As a result, the tankless system is able to provide energy savings, since it does not need to keep an entire tank of water hot at all times.
Most traditional tank type water heaters can lose up to six degrees per hour, and this kind of heat loss can waste a lot of energy. Tankless water heaters, on the other hand, simply heat the water as it is needed, so no energy is wasted in the process.
Tankless water heaters are suitable for any size home, but it is important to match the size of the system to the size of the home being heated. Your plumbing contractor will be able to provide you with more complete information about the type of tankless water heater that best suits your needs.
In addition to gas systems, there are a number of excellent tankless water heaters on the market. In addition, there are even tankless water heaters that use propane gas, and these can be an excellent choice for the energy efficient home. Again, your plumbing contractor or builder can provide complete information on the tankless water systems available in your area.
It is of course important to shop around for the best price when buying a tankless water heater. The prices on various models can vary quite a bit, and it is important to strike the right balance between quality and value. As with other types of home appliances, it is important to buy the best tankless water heater you can afford to purchase. A top quality tankless water heater will be more energy efficient and better able to stand up to the rigors of everyday use.

Solar Pool Part 1: Making your swimming pool more efficient
Swimming pools offer a great way to exercise and beat the summer heat. However, installing and maintaining a pool can get expensive. Fortunately, The sun can provide the heat needed to keep your pool warm enough for a nice swim.
Before investing in a solar water heating system for your pools, however make sure that your pool is effeiciently filtering and circulating the water it has. Inefficiency costs money! In fact, installing a smaller higher efficiency pump and running less each day can save up to 75 percent in energy costs.
Which pump you choose depends on the size of your swimming pool, how much it is used and local weather conditions. One study shows that a three-quarter-horsepower or smaller pump is generally sufficient for most residential pools. At the same time, install a larger filter and make sure that pipes are as short and straight as possible. A large cartridge type filter is more efficient that the cheaper diatomaceous earth types. In addition, cartridges require about half as much power to push the water through.
What about circulation? You can save some bucks by simply cutting back on the amount of time the circulation pumps run. Many are set to run 6 to 12 hours a day. However, about one to three hours a day is typically all that’s needed to keep water fresh. Cutting back may mean that the pool filter doesn’t collect as much debris, but you can skim it off as needed or keep the pool covered.
What’s next? Most of a pool’s heat loss occurs at the surface where the heated water evaporates or radiates away. A pool cover offers an effective way of keeping heat and water in a pool by reducing surface evaporation. A pool cover can reduce water loss by one third to one half. And each gallon of 80 degree water that evaporates removes about 8,000 BTU from the pool. In addition, reducing water loss also reduces the amount of chemical water treatment required.
The best way to reduce evaporation and even take advantage of the sun’s radiation is to add a solar cover to your swimming pool. Dark covers hold more heat in than clear or light-colored solar covers. A solar cover can pay for itself in energy savings within the first year, yet they have a lifespan of 3 to 5 years.
One more energy consumption tip for your Go-Solar.org solar heated pool: Install a windbreak. A fence or plants around a pool can reduce evaporation by 300 percent or more. An effective windbreak must be high and close enough to the pool to block wind from moving across the waters surface, but it can’t block sunlight.

Blinds are window dressings or coverings. Blinds add to the aesthetic value of a room. The various blinds available have an alluring combination of fashion and durability. They are easy to install and operate. They also give good value for money, in terms of efficacy and stability. Blinds are either horizontal or vertical, based on the fall of their slats.
Horizontal blinds are of various types. They have slats that fall parallel to each other. Some of them are honeycomb cell shades, faux wood blinds, wood blinds, plantation shutters, and Roman shades. Two-inch faux wood blinds are made of PVC. They look like real wood, but are less expensive. These are good for kitchens, bathrooms, and children’s rooms, as they are long-lasting. They are also resistant to water and easy to clean. They cost about $49 for a 36″X60″size window.
Two-inch real wood blinds are cheaper than plantation shutters. They have many color options and are much lighter than the PVC blinds. Online, they are available at $74 for a 36″X60″ sized window.
Light-filtering honeycomb shades are very aesthetic to look at because of their honeycomb shape. When closed, they provide adequate isolation, yet allow light to gently filter in. This gives a very good effect because of the honeycomb pattern produced. They can be raised compactly, giving a clear view of the window. They also act as very good insulators, not allowing the chill from outside to enter. They look very elegant and are available at $74 for a 36″X60″ window size.
The buyer should evaluate his need before going on a buying spree. It is advisable that he compare the various categories of blinds, their advantages and disadvantages, and his budget.

Ideas for interior design are a dime a dozen these days. In fact, you can likely watch one hour of television dedicated to the subject and come away with enough information to design an entire home. The problem with the tv-to life application of ideas for interior design is that, to begin with, they are difficult to document. Unless you sit beside or in front of the tv, scribbling madly onto a piece of paper, it is tough to actually hang on to all of the ideas you might get from the show. Also, success with any interior design project is planning, planning, planning. Duplicating or copying a design from television into your home might involve some extra steps or planning that was not included in the thirty-minute or hour-long segment of the show. It is this reason that one should sit down and actually go through an entire ‘dry run’ of a design before it is actually executed. This way, there is a better chance that you will figure out and take necessary preventative measures to ensure a problem free application.
Television is not the only resource for information and ideas for interior design. Books are a great helper to designers of any background or experience levels. The content found in books is often much more thought-out and explanative material then that of a tv show. This is so because many books entail much more basic material and information then a normal television show can include in a short segment of time. Also, books are commonly co-authored on such subjects and are generally edited before released in any form to consumers so the content has often times been written and/or edited by at least two separate parties. This is the case most often times, but there are always exceptions to the rules.
If a book seems too labor intensive or time consuming, you might consider magazine articles as a source for ideas for interior design. In magazines, you have the additional benefit of visual representations of design concepts that you can actually hold onto for an extended period of time. Many interior design professionals take advantage of this benefit by collecting large quantities of these articles or pictures and placing them into a format that is easily accessible to them. This is a tremendous resource for finding a particular look or feel that a client or person might not be able to describe in actual industry terms.
The terminology used by designers is fairly self-describing although people that are not exposed to the jargon might not understand certain concepts or phrases used in defining ideas for interior design. For example, most people are generally aware of the terms ‘traditional’ or ‘modern’ design although they might have trouble explaining ones such as ‘Minimalist’ or ‘Americana’. There is no reason to feel inadequate if these phrases are unfamiliar to you, just understand that the learning process takes time and is exactly as described, a process.
If you are comfortable with your own level of creativity, browse as many magazines as possible to put together a unique style or design code of your own and work within those guidelines and ideas for interior design applications. If you are a little less comfortable with your own sense of style and find it easier to point to a traditional design category, gather all the information possible related to that category and stick to the general guidelines presented in the information you have assembled.
The best way to assimilate information offering you ideas for interior design is to take a little information from each of the above suggested sources and compile it into a creative archive of sorts that you can access again at a later time in order to compare and contrast with your own ideas and vision.

“A Complete Guide To Interior Design.”
The first stage of the repair of old apartments is the destruction and dismantling first of all of the dilapidated walls and partition walls, removing the wall and ceiling coating. This stage is one of the most “dirty” stages of the repair.
One more among the most important and “dusty” works is the window block replacement. It is necessary to do this first of all because dirt and dust will be unallowable during following stages and it is prohibited at all to open windows during painting and wallpaper works (large drops of the temperature and moisture are unallowable). After mounting windows and windowsills it is necessary to pack them immediately in polyethylene film and to cover windowsills in addition by the fiberboard (in order to prevent scratches).
The following stage is wiring. Wiring can be installed in walls or along the floor. Wiring is made inside the pipes to ensure electrical safety and increase reliability. The pipe protects wiring from external damages and allows to replace the wire completely without breaking walls and floor simply by inserting the new wire instead of the old one.
House Painting follows the wiring. The frequent mistake during the simultaneous conducting of such works occurs when workers forget to lay out one of the cables and house painters have already plastered and smoothed out the wall. As a result, additional works are necessary to seal chases on the finished wall. The places of the feed switch and wall outlet location and their number must be thought-out in advance. The scheme of power wiring is usually included into the design project.
Later on the system must be ready to service in case of failures. In addition to the wirings, the telephone cable and the TV cable are laid out. The power cable should not be laid out near the telephone and antenna cables to avoid noise pickup and interference. The most peculiar moment is laying out the TV cable. In order to make two (or three) TV sets in the apartment the second cable is often simply “firmly soldered” in parallel, so the cable resistance is lowered. As a result, the display quality is deteriorated, many programs can’t be received and etc. In order to avoid such situation it is necessary to invite a specialist with special equipment. He will measure the signal level of the each TV-feeder and install TV-amplifiers or TV-filters.
Painting is the most long-term process, that is why it is conducted simultaneously in all premises, if it is possible. Delays are linked with the technology. Each applied layer of the plaster (or filling in finishing) must dry completely before the work will continue.
Works in sanitary arrangements and the kitchen begin simultaneously with house painting. It is better to fulfill so-called “dirty” works in the first place and simultaneously. In accordance with the plan of the sanitary technician location welding, wall chasing and pipe run are conducted. Steam radiator admissions are prepared, taps and brackets are mounted, but radiators are not installed.
Then works in sanitary arrangements are conducted according to the plan. The bath is mounted, then walls are smoothed out and the tile is laid on walls. The following stage is assembling ceiling and laying tiles on the floor. And at last other sanitary devices, mixers and accessories are mounted.
After wiring, installation of rosette plates and terminal boxes the voltage is checked in all point. Ends of wiring are insulated and laid out into rosette plates. Sockets and breakers are not installed during this stage in order to save their surface appearance. The finish puttying of walls is conducted simultaneously. The technologically exact control of drying of the layer of the plaster (filling) is carried out by drymeter. It is a special instrument that measures moisture of the material.
The following stage is the process of fill. Fill can be made with different materials – from usual masonry cement-sand mixture to self-aligning floors. The advantage of the simple mixture is its cheapness, the disadvantage is that such mixture is much harder aligned at the level and the final dry time of such fill is 40 days, only then the next stage of the work with floor can be conducted, i.e. the period is too long. Self-leveling self-aligning floors are much more expensive, but more technological. Aligning occurs almost “automatically” i.e. fluid solution of mixture is poured out, then it runs and you receive the horizontal surface. The final dry time is 15 days i.e. you have significant time economy. The system “warm floor” is installed into the fill. If the so-called “wet processes” are inapplicable the technology of the dry aligning (the fill technology) is used bases for floors with adjustable floor battens are mounted.
After fill door boxes and door are installed. Installation of doors must take into the account thickness of future floor covering. After installation the door can be taken off its hinges and removed until the end of repair or packed into polyethylene film to protect from damages. Simultaneously ceiling can be painted and the tile can be laid in that premises where it was planned. The tile must be laid on the absolutely dry overlay.
Finishing of the floor mounting depends on the planned covering. In most cases (if finish covering is not the tile) fill is covered by bitumen mastic and plywood sheets are laid. They are fixed to the floor by self-tapping screws. One plywood sheet is fixed by 30-50 self-tapping screws to provide the close fixing of plywood and long-term service of the floor without squeak and bulging. The plywood gives the additional heat- and acoustic insulation. After mounting of the plywood is finished, wallpaper for painting can be pasted on walls.
In premises where finish covering of the floor is laminated flooring or parquet hoard, the ordinary wallpapers are pasted (not for painting) in the first place. Then the floor covering is mounted.
If finish covering of the floor is the block parquet, the parquet is laid in the first place, then it is scraped and covered by one layer of lacquer. After this the ordinary wall-papers are pasted and the parquet is covered by the rest layers of lacquer (depending on the quality of the parquet and lacquer). The mentioned consequence is linked only with such scrambling process when the great amount of dust is created. In spite of the fact that good floor grinders are equipped with the vacuum cleaner, the sufficient amount of dust is precipitated on surrounding subjects including walls. Dust is very acerbic and is badly washed off. That is why in order not to damage wallpapers, they are pasted after scrambling and in order the parquet do not absorb the surplus moisture it is covered by the one layer of lacquer before wallpaper pasting.
After this the main works can be considered to be finished. It is left only to install the plinths, decorative elements, breakers and sockets, curtain holders, to hang doors, plant-bands and others.
In conclusion it is necessary to note that the sequence of works was listed in general and can change depending on the definite situation – the number of rooms in premise, your resources, peculiarities of the construction of the multilevel premises. It is based on common sense and every person capable of analysis can independently create such a sequence.

There are many different styles and kinds of windows that are available. The key is to research them before you visit the store so that you will not be overwhelmed with the choices. While the angled, circular, and arced windows are visually appealing, they will be difficult to work with when you begin decorating.
Learn more about the type of window that you are thinking about for your home will help you to avoid many of the pitfalls and problems. Measurements are critical for proper window fit and to ensure that you will be able to fit your windows with window treatments when you begin decorating.
If you want French doors in your new home, then you will want to keep these things in mind when having them installed. French doors usually swing into your home, so this may cause problems if you want to hang a valance. You can choose to mount your valance directly onto the door or have the door swing outward to remedy this problem. It is important that you think about the locks and door handles, especially if you want to install blinds, shutters, or shades as your window treatment.
Where the windows are placed is also something that you need to carefully consider when you choose window treatments. This is especially true if you have baseboards or chair rails that run around the window opening, because it could cause a problem with the drapery.
Some problems that could occur with your drapery is that they may not drape correctly or they may hang outside of your window frame. Centering the window is very important to help the drapes look better and more even.
The space from the top of the window to the ceiling should be carefully thought out. Keep in mind that there needs to be 2 inches at least to allow you to mount brackets for hanging a window treatment. If you want a wood header over your window, then you will probably need to mount your window treatments that are heavy directly into your header. Lighter window treatments may be mounted into the sheetrock, but you may want to use toggle or molly bolts for a secure mount.
Other issues that you need to keep in mind when contemplating windows in a new home is accessibility and style. Make sure that any windows that are installed are easily accessible to you. All the windows in a room need to be styled the same to help the room look more put together and complete.

Most retailers carry a large selection on window blinds because they are so popular.
Wood blinds add natural beauty to your home and can often be found in a finish that matches your furniture. You can find them in a variety of slat sizes ranging from 1” to 3”. The right slat size will often be determined by the size of the window along with the size and shape of the room. A window covering specialist will be able to help you select the appropriate size. Window blinds all offer some sort of lifting and tilt feature. You can choose from continuous cord loop or even cordless systems that are extra safe because there is no dangling cord to get caught up in. These are perfect for homes with small children and pets. Most vertical blinds come with cords but they are often short enough that small children can’t reach them.
Speaking of vertical blinds, these are one of the easiest window coverings to maintain and they provide the ultimate light control. They are available in an array of colors and rich textures and patterns. They are an excellent choice for sliding glass doors because they can be drawn completely open. Loans for home improvements have some particularities that are worth mentioning. Following are a series of facts about home improvement loans that you should take into account prior to considering your options.
Home Improvement Loans Nature
What makes a loan a home improvement loan is the use that the money receives. This use can be a condition for the loan approval and thus there are penalties that can be applied if you don’t comply with that requirement. However, those home improvement loans that are unsecured are actually personal loans and the use you give to the money is really up to you. They are just promoted as home improvement loans to attract customers but those loans are nothing but personal unsecured loans.
Home Improvement Loans And Equity
Home improvement loan don’t necessary require equity but unsecured home improvement loans are too expensive when compared to home improvement loans based on equity. Therefore it is always advisable to obtain a home equity loan for home improvements. These loans use the available equity on your home to secure the money borrowed and since the money is used to improve the property that will be used as collateral, qualifying for these loans is a lot easier.
125% Home Improvement Loans
These loans let you use 125% of the value of the property as guarantee of repayment. Thus, even if you don’t have enough equity on your home, you can still obtain these loans. The idea is simple: the money will be used to improve the property which will in turn raise its value making more equity available and with few monthly payments, the accumulated debt (mortgage plus home equity loan) will equal 100% of the value of the property and so, both lenders will be fully protected.
Requirements For Approval On Home Improvement Loans
Home improvement loans, especially those based on equity are very easy to qualify for. The risk involved in the transaction is very little. The chances of default are greatly reduced and in the event of default, repossession assures the lender that he will recover the investment. Therefore, a moderate credit score and history will be enough; there is no need for your credit to be good or perfect.
Only serious delinquencies like bankruptcies or defaults can ruin your chances. Other than that, your income needs to let you afford the payments with ease. There are no further requirements because as the loan is used for improvements, it raises the value of the property which is the asset guaranteeing repayment.
Legally Fixed Purpose On Home Improvement Loans
Do remember that on most home improvement loans the fact that the loan has to be used for making home improvements is one of the contract’s clauses. Therefore, you may be required to show proof of the improvements you are going to make like constructor’s plans, designer’s plans, etc.
Any other use can result in the cancelation of the loan program and the payments becoming immediately due. Therefore, be careful and read the contract thoroughly.
Waterbed liners can provide additional protection in the event your water bed mattress develops a leak. Liners are usually made from waterproof materials, and are mean’t to catch any water that might spring from leaks that might develop in your water bed. They are placed between the mattress and the actual supports that keep your mattress in place be it a hardside frame or a softside vinyl/foam support.
Some liners may require special hooks or attachments to keep them upright or in place around your water bed. Others, often called stand-up liners, have semi-rigid sides which eliminates the need for any other attachments. They will stand on their own and be ready for your water mattress to be placed inside them. Waterbed liners are available in single, queen, and king sizes, depending on the size of your water bed.
These liners should be checked regularly, as part of water bed maintenance, to make sure that they are still intact and in proper place. Although leaks are quite unlikely under normal conditions and even with regular use of the water bed, it is still a good insurance policy to have a liner. Emptying your mattress and checking the liner about twice a year should be enough, and you could also add conditioner to the water at the same time.
The conditioner is a chemical added to the water in the mattress that serves to kill any algae and bacteria that might grow in there, as well as to keep the vinyl supple. Other water bed maintenance tasks would be to wipe the vinyl top of the water bed clean once in a while, and to be alert for any leaks.
Waterbed liners are just a temporary containment measure in the event of an actual leak, preventing the water from spilling and making a bigger mess. When an actual leak springs, it is often easy to find and repair the leak yourself. Do not drain the water bed – it is often much easier to find the leak with the water bed still filled with water. If you drain the water bed, it would be much harder to find the leak that caused you to drain it in the first place!
Begin by drying any water between the mattress and the liner, using a towel. Then check the surfaces of the water bed thoroughly. It is rare for a leak to appear on the bottom surface of the water bed, so check the top, the sides, and the corners of the water mattress carefully to try and find the leak. If necessary, apply pressure on the water bed by pressing down on it or kneeling on it to help you find where the leak is.
Once the leak is found, place a cushion or pillow under where the leak is, to place it above water level and stop water from leaking through it. Then it is a simple matter to cut out a patch of vinyl slightly larger than the leak and use the provided waterbed glue to patch the leak.
So waterbed liners do not prevent leaks, but only provides some damage control. With a liner in place, you should be able to find and repair any leaks before the water gets onto your bed frame and out of hand.
