Feng Shui and the Color of Money

Category : Uncategorized

I remember one of the first things I learned about money was don’t count on it. Did you ever notice just when you thought you would actually not only meet all your bills but have a little left over to actually indulge yourself in something good, something happens that removes it before we’ve ever even seen it? The car will break down, the plumbing will leak and the list goes on.

In Feng Shui we designate certain areas of the Bagua to our money concerns and enhancing them will certainly help us hold onto it and even help us bring about prosperity into our lives. However, before we use the bagua to help utilize and create additional wealth, lets take a look at how we handle money.

For example, you’re online at the grocery store and there is a line, the cashier is impatient and you’re packing as fast as you can. Do you ever look at your change or take a minute to put your change away properly? Oftentimes it will just get pushed in our pockets without a thought except to get out of there. In Feng Shui Principles, this is actually disrespectful of your money. Try to step aside for a moment, put your money away properly and you can then also see at a glance about how much you have.

Keep an eye out that you’re only buying necessities. When times are a little difficult financially, try to remember the difference between what you really need and what you would like to have. Buy only the necessities during this time so you can have some left over for another necessity that will surely pop up before your next pay day. Doing without some of the little things for a time will benefit you in the long run and leave you less stressed.

Although you may not know because you don’t want to know, keep account of what you’re charging instead of just checking the statement at the end of the month. Knowing the state of your true financial affairs include those credit cards which can get out of hand without you’re even realizing it. Check on your balances periodically during the month by just calling the number on the back of the card to see your true balance that month of how you are doing financially.

Keep track of not only your “regular” bills but also the ones that come every six months or so, like car insurance. Being somewhat prepared for that extra money during certain months will help you to hopefully be mindful in trying to put away some money toward them so you will not feel strapped because you forgot they were due.

Of course there are many other ways to cut down even slightly on your spending. Remove services you can do without, invest in a lawnmower and do your own maintenance, think hard if you really need that expensive dinner out with friends or if you’d be just as happy to see them afterward for coffee or a drink. The list is long if you really think about it.
Now to Bagua your home in every sense of the word. Think of the Bagua as a layout that you can place over anything: an entire home or business including the property, a room or just a desk. You can use the Bagua in a very large space or a very small one.

Certain areas are dedicated to parts of the Bagua. For example, the center always represents health. Stand at the front of your home and the left back area will be your “money” area. This is the area, from an exterior that we want to enhance. If no money is coming in, you might want to use something that “moves” in that area to get your money moving in. Feng Shui colors for this area are Green (The Color of Money) and Purple as an accent color. So you might want to use something as simple as a Green Windsock, keeping your Intention that you would like money to start coming in by signifying movement and color. Intention creates the Energy behind it so be sure to have that in place.

You can do the same inside your house as well. Stand at the Front Door and look to your back left. Here you may want to use a fountain or green, lush plants. Remember to keep your intentions clear.

And at work or your office desk at home if you have one would require something of the same nature. Feng Shui uses a three-legged Frog to help bring in the money and this can be used on something as small as a desk. You can get a money envelope or make one yourself by coloring an envelope RED, infuse it with your intention and put three like coins in them. As always, keep your intentions clear as Feng Shui Principles dictate that our Intentions are 90% of the actual “cure.”

One thing to remember when you are using something moving: when the money does start to come in (and it will), you won’t want it moving right out again. Now is the time to replace a moving object to another area you might like to get moving and put something heavy (be it a rock or a paperweight) to stabilize your finances. You don’t want to keep the money flowing at this point as it will likely flow back out!

Making some simple changes in the way you look at money and the way you treat it and implement some easy changes around your home and business just might turn your finances around! Give it a try and you’ll be surprised what you can create.

This may come as a surprise to you. Just like other types of big screen TVs, LCD flat screen TVs have some disadvantages, as well. Yes, it’s true. LCD TVs also run cooler than plasma TVs, thereby minimizing the need for noisy fan cooling. Many LCD sets can double as a PC monitors, as well. Hardwood Floors: Maintaining Their Beauty and Shine

Category : Uncategorized

Hardwood floors may be the crowning glory of every home they grace. With a little care and effort, you can ensure that your wood floors will last a lifetime and provide you with elegance, style, and sophistication. Knowing what type of finish you have is important to ensure that you are protecting and maintaining your investment. It may be a Polyurethane covering or a wax finish. You need to know the type of finish your floor has so you can choose the proper cleaners and polishers for your floor.

No matter what type of finish your floor has one rule remains the same. Water is most damaging to hardwood floors. There is just no getting around it, if water penetrates the surface finish of your floor and works its way into the boards, your floor will be damaged. Therefore, it is recommended that you use a slightly damp mop when cleaning your hardwood floors. A slightly damp mop will effectively clean the surface of your floor without allowing the water to penetrate through the finish. A very high glossy sheen on your wood floor means that it has a Polyurethane finish. If the floor looks matte, then it is a wax or oil based finish. There are specific hardwood floor cleaners designed for both finishes so make sure that you use an appropriately based cleaner.

Dusting and vacuuming are vitally important to maintaining the beauty and shine of your floor. Dirt can work its way into the crevices of your floor and cause damage. By dust mopping and vacuuming you can keep the high gloss appearance of your finish with out investing too much effort, time, or money. Using a soft brush attachment or a dust mop will pick up loose debris and dirt and protect your floor from damage. On average, expect to dust your floors weekly and when there are unexpected messes.

You should also protect your floors from surface damage. High heels, animal claws, and the legs of heavy furniture may all pose a threat to the shine of your floor. Unfortunately, they are also sources for gouges and permanent scuff marks as well. Protect your floor by placing area or throw rugs in high traffic areas, making sure that people don’t wear high heels on the floor, and by adding furniture pads to the bottom of your furniture, chairs, and table legs. If you have pets that will be spending time walking on your floors, make sure that their claws are properly trimmed to prevent them from scratching the wood surface. By taking these precautions and using a commercially prepared floor cleaner and polisher designed for your floor’s finish, you can ensure that your floors will provide you with a lifetime of excellence, beauty, and shine.

1080p HDTV

Category : Uncategorized

You may know that 1080i refers to 1080 lines of vertical resolution interlaced. This means that instead of 30 frames a second, the TV displays 60 fields per second, where each field contains alternate lines of the picture. Because the fields are refreshed so quickly, your brain interprets the signal as 30 full frames per second.

720p means 720 vertical lines of progressive scan video where every frame of the
signal is displayed in its entirety, giving a higher-quality, film-like appearance to
the picture.

Most HDTVs or HDTV-ready TVs support either 720p or both 1080i and 720p, very
few support 1080p HDTV. Part of the reason for this is that very few broadcasters
want to broadcast 1080p signals. The reason for that is that 1080p requires
significantly higher bandwidth than either 1080i or 720p. And for broadcasters,
bandwidth is a precious commodity. Using up more bandwidth for one signal means
that there is less room for other channels. So in many cases, opting for a 1080p
signal would mean dropping or degrading other channels.

Is 1080p HDTV important? Well, yes and no. Not all video footage benefits greatly
from progressive scan. Sports broadcasts and action movies look better at 720p
than 1080i because there is lots of fast movement and the interlacing in 1080i is
sometimes noticeable, reducing the quality of the picture. Movies and TV shows
where there is not a great deal of fast action look better at 1080i than 720p because
the higher resolution has a greater impact on quality than the progressive scan,
which has little effect where there is only a small difference in the image between
frames.

So, while 1080p HDTV is the best of both worlds, the cost in terms of bandwidth, is
very high compared to the benefit for most people most of the time.

Convection Causes Pocketbook Corrosion

Category : Uncategorized

With the price of natural gas, heating oil and electricity going up sometimes faster than our income, there are lots of things that you can do to reduce your costs. To begin, insulate your home from the elements as a great first step. Also start with reducing consumption, installing energy-saving appliances and controls, and ventilating the unconditioned spaces. When it comes to insulating, there are two tricks to keep in mind, the first one is to install the right amount of insulation in the right places and the other is to keep it dry and effective. Convection causes one of the biggest leaks from your pocket book! More energy escapes through convection which means moving air, than through radiation which is a loss of energy through static materials.

If you find leaks, make sure you block them especially when it comes to drafts around wall outlets and windows. Remember to choose the right caulking as there are various types on the market and some are more effective than others. Insulating around the windows, applying temporary weather-stripping, window coverings, and hanging a window shade are all good means of energy conservation.

Remember to change the filters in your furnace often and have your heating systems inspected and maintained on a fairly regular basis. If you have radiators, checking them for efficiency is a good idea. These can leak a lot of unnecessary energy if not efficient. A radiator knocking is usually a sign of an inefficient one. Making a slight adjustment to your thermostat can generate significant savings especially if it is cold out. Investigate the different types of programmable thermostats, as these are automatic and will save you having to manually adjust all the time. Remember that air conditioners can soak up a lot of your energy dollars and an annual service call is important. Ceiling fans can help you save money on heating as well as cooling. A couple of other items in your home that absorb energy dollars are electric water heaters, refrigerators and clothes dryers. One great way to save money is to install a tankless hot water heater.

The Table Saw

Category : Uncategorized

The table saw is the heart of most woodworking shops. This is true whether it’s professional shop, or a basement hobby shop. In general, no project regardless of size is done without one. It is often one of the first pieces of equipment to be used.

The uses for them range from rough cutting lumber to creating moldings. Many complex joinery techniques can be accomplished with these tools, provided the user is experienced with the machine.

Table saws are available in many models, and range in cost from a hundred dollars, for the home owner with only an occasional need for one, to many thousands of dollars, geared towards high production shops.

In the United States alone, there are over six million units in use, and over eighty thousand units sold per year. The after market accessories for the table saw is also a huge business. There are many devices that increase the capabilities and safety of the saw.

Table saw safety is an important part of woodworking. Read and follow the safety precautions that come with the saw. Use common sense, and good judgment. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. Find another way. And always, with any thru cut, use an anti kickback device. A kickback can occur at any time and be fatal.

Due to the amount of use of these machines get, they account for a very high percentage of the injuries in a wood shop. Most often, this is operator error, not mechanical failure.

It may be surprising to note that the majority of injuries happen to professional wood workers. When you consider the fact that they are using the machines on a daily basis, often for hours at a time, this is understandable. Due to the amount of time spent using this machine, they become very comfortable with them. This can lead to over confidence. They are usually in a little more of a hurry to get things accomplished, as their livelihood depends on production. This in itself accounts for many accidents.

Another large factor in this statistic is the fact that most professionals do not use the guards supplied with the machines. They are considered inconvenient, and they do require a little extra time.

Saw Stop is a saw manufacturer which has designed a saw that all but eliminates table saw accidents. It uses a cartridge that senses finger contact with the blade and stops the blade in milliseconds. It also drops the blade below the surface of the table, rendering it harmless. The cartridge and blade must be replaced after an incident, but considering the cost of the average table saw injury is in the neighborhood of forty five thousand dollars, it kind of becomes a mute point.

This saw manufacture has won many safety awards, in addition to making top quality machines. The cost of the machine is higher than most saws in the same size range, but again when considering the cost of an accident, it is money well spent.

Table saws come in many sizes and configurations. Size is determined by the diameter of the blade. A common size is ten inches. Some saws are designed for occasional use, while others are designed for continuous duty. Considering the size of the market, and the various requirements needed by different types of end users, it has evolved into a very large and competitive market.

The smallest models in the group, which often have an eight inch blade, are aimed at homeowners. These saws are not powerful or accurate machines. They are typically very loud, and have very small table tops. The only real plus to these units is the portability and low price. I don’t recommend them.

Many people wanting to get involved in woodworking are tempted to buy these saws, due to the low price, and uncertainty that they will continue with woodworking as a hobby. This is a problem in that the saws don’t perform well and lead the user to believe that woodworking is best left to the “pros”. Poor quality tools lead to poor quality results. Spending a little more for a better quality saw can result in a much more satisfying, and safer experience.

The next level of saws in the group would be the contractor’s saws. Many are available with stands that fold and are fitted with wheels to make them very portable. They are generally larger than those in the previous group, have a more powerful motor, as well having a higher level of quality. They are primarily designed to be used on job sites, by carpenters and contractors.

Some contractor’s saws are very large, powerful machines. They are too big to move easily, but are comparable to cabinet saws in quality and performance.

There is a new type of saw recently being offered to the market place. They are called “hybrid” saws. The idea behind them is to offer a saw that looks like a cabinet saw, but cost much less. These are a scaled down version of cabinet saws. The have smaller motors, typically 1 3/4 H.P., and are lower quality throughout. The castings are lighter, resulting in more vibration. While I’ve never used these saws myself, I have inspected them for others thinking of buying one. I’ve watched sales people try to steer people away from buying them, as they feel buyers are being misled.

The next group would be cabinet saws. The Delta Unisaw and the Powermatic 66 are the most popular of this group. They are available with right tilt or left tilt blades. There is a long debate as to which is better or safer. This only becomes an issue when making miter cuts. For this purpose, left tilting blades are safer as the cutoff doesn’t get stuck between the blade and the rip fence, thereby reducing the chance of kick back.

These saws generally start at 3 H.P. motors, and are offered with 5 H.P. motors as well. They are capable of very fine work. The accuracy built into them is done with cabinet and furniture makers in mind. Instead of one or two drive belts, they have three. The castings are very heavy, to eliminate vibration. When properly tuned, they are a pleasure to work with. The accuracy is something that you can depend on.

As with all tools, consider the expected use, and buy the best quality you can afford, with that use in mind.

With the help of these security cameras, you can monitor your children’s daily activity so will be able to check who is in your front door. Thus, you have that peace of mind while doing your regular chores.

There are different kinds of camera security systems available on the market. And if you are planning to buy one, it is important that you choose the security camera that is worthy of its price and will cater to your needs.

Below are some tips on how you can buy a camera security system that is appropriate for you and your family.

Assessing your needs

You should know your purpose why you are buying a camera. This will help you decide what kind or camera system you need. Answer these questions

-Do you want to keep an eye to all those that are going in and out of your house?

-Will you be placing the camera inside or outside your home?

-How much is your budget?

Choosing the type of camera you want

Most common camera used for surveillance is the CCTV camera, which stands for Closed Circuit Television. And CCTV camera comes in different types according to the camera’s body, which are the following

· Professional grade – It has exchangeable lenses and will allow you to monitor things from any distance.

· Bullet camera – This is an easy-to-install camera and it comes in a small package. Thus, it is highly recommended for residential surveillance.

· Board Cameras – This is a low-cost camera that has a fixed lens.

Deciding for a colored or black and white camera
If you will place your camera in an area where there is no enough light then use a black and white camera security system. A colored camera is only recommended for in-house use. Thus, your decision will depend on where you plan to put camera.

Gaining knowledge about screen resolution and light level
Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image. This will help you determine how sharp an object will look like once it was captured. An image with higher resolution is clearer and sharper compared to another image with lower resolution. While light level determines the clarity of an object. Having less light produces a clear image.

Selecting a Monitor

This process will be easy once you have determined the type and resolution of camera system that you will use. Because what you will do is just to match the three items (camera type, resolution and monitor) together.

Now you have an idea on how to buy a camera security system. You can now start looking for one that will assist you in maintaining security and safety of your family. You can also search camera systems using the internet. There are online stores that offer great deals on camera security systems.

“5 Fast Ideas to Freshen the Look of your Room “

Category : Uncategorized

“Company’s coming and my place doesn’t look right…”

You know how it goes, you have visitors coming tonight. You’ve cleaned every room in the house (well, maybe not the bedroom). You’ve planned the menu, and…it’s just not quite right. Perhaps you’ve been hankering for a change or maybe it strikes you out of the air, the room needs Something, but what?

Here’s five fast tips for when that re-decorating demon strikes and you haven’t the budget or time to do much.

You can likely do all of these ideas for significantly less than $50, but because they are simple, I’ll explain along the way what makes the difference.

1)Fresh Flowers

You don’t need a $50 bouquet to make a room, but a stale look will get an instant boost with a bit of living, breathing, greenery. Consider a $20 tropical, large enough to fill in an empty corner, and spend another $20 on a colorful bunch of fresh cut flowers (if you shop well, you can even get the vase). This will give your room instant punch!

2)Bowl of Fruit & Table Cloth

If you’re at the market anyway, don’t overlook the zest and color that a large bowl of fresh fruit lends to the kitchen, dining room, or even the coffee table. Great look that works well in all decors; fill a pottery dish with a variety, or a tall glass vase with a single fruit (ie: lemons or limes) or even line up a row of green apples along the coffee or dining table for a contemporary feel. And since fruit is inexpensive, give yourself a shot of change by selecting a new table linen in the trendiest color of the season to give your room a real lift or invest in a crisp white or cream cloth for a classic look.

3)Baskets

You don’t have to be a country girl (or guy) to appreciate the cozy look of baskets. Even the most modern room can benefit from a bit of wood or rattan. But the main purpose here is to hide clutter. You’ll feel so refreshed if you add a few baskets to fill with magazines, toys or hobby material. It’s the easiest way to contain the everyday clutter that you can’t stow away. And clearing space is always a good look!

4)Throw Cushions

I’d bet you could find two throw cushions for less than $50, so if you do, add a throw blanket as well. Cheap and shamefully easy, this is the way to go if you’re ready to make more of a statement. Great opportunity to bring some contrast into a dull room, consider light pillows for a dark room, dark pillows for a light one, and absolutely try adding a trendy color to a neutral room. And at this price, you can change it next season!

5)Paint

Admittedly for the more ambitious, this is a fantastic way to create a stunning look in little time. However, this is an article on FAST ideas, so let’s not tackle the whole room right now. If company’s coming this weekend, try a new look by painting a feature wall a stunning but complementary color (ie: the fireplace wall, that blank wall behind the couch…you get the idea.) Or even tape off a smaller section (this is called color blocking) to focus attention on a collection of pictures, or behind a mirror, or around the fireplace.

To all those with the decorating fever, I wish you speedy recovery and an enjoyable project!
